About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Bearing System Developer to join our team at Johnson Controls.

Job Description

This exciting opportunity involves supporting the design, development, and optimization of active magnetic bearing (AMB) control systems for various rotating machinery. Key responsibilities include commissioning and field support, rotordynamic analysis, and software development tailored for AMB systems.

What You Will Do
  • Develop AMB control system optimization settings across multiple client bases and rotating machinery types.
  • Commission and provide field support for AMB systems, including initial setup, remote monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform rotordynamic analysis for new AMB-supported machinery.
  • Develop magnetic bearing controller (MBC) software release requirements and support software release testing.
  • Support MBC control algorithm development and control system architecture modifications.
  • Troubleshoot issues by investigating root causes across various engineering disciplines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in turbomachinery or rotating machinery, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of control theory, rotordynamics, and vibration theory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, including magnetic bearing technology.
  • Advanced vibration diagnostics and experience with laboratory equipment.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is around $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
