Position Overview:

The role of Laborer encompasses various tasks associated with telecommunications infrastructure development as directed by the Supervisor. Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in all aspects of underground construction, including loading, transporting, excavating, and managing a variety of construction materials and equipment.
  • Utilizing hand tools and mechanical equipment for excavation tasks.
  • Installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cabling.
  • Safely entering and exiting machinery and vehicles.
  • Operating in proximity to heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Working in both congested and remote locations.
  • Maintaining visual and audible communication with team members and ensuring safe operations.
  • Performing general construction tasks under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Conducting flagging and site restoration activities.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a secure work environment.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation. Essential qualifications include:

  • Basic understanding of operating various utility vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and their safe usage.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and clients.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is crucial for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • A minimum of six months of experience in the utility construction sector.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret utility maps for identifying underground utilities.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including:

  • Standing, walking, bending, and lifting as necessary.
  • Working in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Wearing safety gear such as boots, glasses, and hard hats.
  • Lifting and carrying weights of up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
