Position Overview:

The Staff Pharmacist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation and dispensing of medications. This position involves providing tailored drug information and patient-specific dosing recommendations, while also playing a key role in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions in accordance with established protocols. The pharmacist will cultivate strong relationships with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, and will engage in continuous education to enhance their own knowledge and that of others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, verification, transport, and delivery of medications to designated healthcare facilities.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care by optimizing medication preparation and addressing medication-related issues.
  • Prepare and dispense medications, provide drug information, and manage medication therapy in compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.
  • Supervise support staff, ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications prepared prior to patient dispensing or administration.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy: Proficient in using pharmaceutical software applications to support medication processes and patient care.
  • Drug Preparation and Dispensing: Demonstrated expertise in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Medication Management: Capable of conducting thorough medication management independently, assessing appropriateness and monitoring for potential issues.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to support the development of colleagues.
