As a Thermal Engineer, you will play a crucial role in conducting both preliminary and in-depth thermal assessments of missile components, subsystems, and integrated systems.

Your responsibilities will include comprehensive modeling of the entire missile system, including ground systems, throughout its lifecycle using standardized processes and tools such as NX, SindaFluent, and Thermal Desktop.


Key Responsibilities:
• Develop technical memos and recommendations to support peer and customer reviews.
• Present analysis data to design and engineering teams, customer representatives, and program personnel during technical meetings and formal design reviews.
• Interpret and implement program requirements effectively.
• Provide thermal engineering support for Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing.

Collaboration with various engineering disciplines in a dynamic environment will be essential to create cost-effective solutions that meet thermal control requirements while adhering to manufacturing and quality objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

• Professional experience in Thermophysics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Aerodynamics.
• Familiarity with thermal analysis tools such as NX, Thermal Desktop, and SINDA.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Experience in mechanical engineering principles.
• US Citizenship required for security clearance.

Desired Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Experience:
• 3+ years in thermophysics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, propulsion, and computational fluid dynamics.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Active Secret or higher clearance from the DoD or other agency.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; US Citizenship is necessary for consideration.

Work Environment: This role allows for part-time remote work, with a flexible schedule discussed during the hiring process. Lockheed Martin supports various work schedules to enhance employee flexibility.
