Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Bakery Product Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our bakery operations, you will be responsible for purchasing and merchandising our extensive selection of bakery, coffee, and juice products. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Purchasing: Replenish products through proper buying procedures to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Merchandising: Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Product Management: Control spoilage/shrink; achieve turn goals; participate in inventory management to ensure efficient product flow.
  • Quality Assurance: Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required to maintain quality standards.
  • Customer Service: Ensure orders for product are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns, and provide excellent customer service by addressing needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Vendor Relations: Maintain positive working relationships with vendors to secure the best possible products and pricing.
  • Inventory Management: Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: 12+ months retail experience.
  • Skillset: Comprehensive knowledge of bakery, coffee, and juice products, working knowledge of merchandising expectations, and ability to educate team on product knowledge.
  • Math Skills: Strong basic math skills for accurate calculations and record-keeping.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $16.50-$23.35 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
