About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Mercy Health. As a key member of our Medical/Surgical department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care through the application of the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish goals and strategies for meeting patient discharge or continuing care needs.
  • Perform and document complete patient assessments, initiate and maintain current nursing care plans, and identify patient learning needs to provide individualized and comprehensive teaching.
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with state practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and serving as a patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics.
Requirements
  • Current RN license in the state of practice or covered by compact.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (preferred).
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification RN-BC (Registered Nurse - Board Certified) (preferred).
  • CCRN Critical Care Registered Nurse (preferred).
  • PCCN Progressive Care Certified Nurse (preferred).
  • CMSRN Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (preferred).
  • National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke Certification (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient care.
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Ability to advance personal and professional growth through participation in educational programs and current literature.
Working Conditions

As a Registered Nurse at Mercy Health, you will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, and may be required to use physical restraints. You may also be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights, and may have periods of constant interruptions.
