Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician position at Omni Family Health is responsible for supporting the operation of the pharmacy department. This role involves performing various tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the pharmacy, including assisting the pharmacist in inventory control, performing routine clerical duties, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the pharmacist in inventory control, including ordering and stocking medications, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform routine clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, and answering phone calls.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering patient questions, resolving issues, and promoting pharmacy services.
  • Support the work of the pharmacy team, including filling prescriptions, processing insurance claims, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist with training and development of new pharmacy technicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall performance improvement of the organization.

Additional Duties:

  • Send applications for new pharmacies and related paperwork to the board of pharmacy.
  • Send applications to pharmacy insurance plans and respond to their faxes and evaluate their contracts.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Administrator and Chief of Operations in the annual recertification with the 340b database.
  • Help the Pharmacy Administrator with internal audits for health center used medications, 340b required audits for in-house pharmacies, and contract pharmacies for 340b periodic audits.
  • Oversee the training process of all pharmacy technicians and ensure they abide by OFH pharmacy protocols and fulfill the tasks required by their job description.
  • Work closely with the OFH Billing Department to match the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) claims reconciliation to guarantee that all claims are being paid one by one.
  • Follow up with insurance companies on getting the claims billed right if needed.
  • Assist patients in open enrollment annual period in choosing the best Medicare Part D plan based on their medication usages with the assistance of Affordable Care Act software or any comparable software.
  • Support the process of establishing a new pharmacy location, including setting up medications, shelving, and software under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Administrator.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Administrator in personnel scheduling for all pharmacy technicians.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician certification or training preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy software.

Working Conditions:

The Pharmacy Technician position is a full-time position that requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The position involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and using a computer for extended periods. The position also requires working in a team environment and communicating effectively with patients, staff, and management.
