Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with daily activities, including preparing patients for examination, phlebotomy, injections, and scheduling diagnostic tests.
  • Document all lab, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms and complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures.
  • Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed.
  • Provide patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge/awareness and recommend appropriate community resources as needed.
  • Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs by recording and reporting patient condition to provider and advising patient based on provider instructions.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environmental conditions by cleaning and organizing equipment and rooms.
  • Handle prescription renewals/inquiries to facilitate patient care.
  • Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Successful completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • 6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Medication Aide Registry (MAR or MAR.40) required within 2 months of hire date.
