Job Summary and Qualifications
Utilizes the nursing process in direct patient care and assists the team with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care requirements.
Collaborates closely with healthcare providers and nursing leadership to coordinate and improve care for patient populations at elevated risk for complications related to the integumentary system.
Plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs for patients and their families.
Contributes to the development and refinement of wound, ostomy, or continence treatment policies and care management strategies.
Leads the development and revision of clinical standards and protocols based on evidence-based principles and recent research findings.
Facilitates data collection for prevalence studies, education, and dissemination of results through collaboration with clinical leadership and educational sessions. Provides feedback and follow-up along with action plans for improvement specific to units and results.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license.
- Current BLS and CPR certification.
- Minimum of three years of Medical Surgical nursing experience with a Wound Ostomy Certification (CWON) or eligibility to become certified within 12 months of hire.
