We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculating and reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Follow approved guidelines for proper recording and reporting of results.
- Perform and document quality control procedures, instrument preventative maintenance, function checks, and calibration.
- Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record and correlate final results with known facts concerning patient history/previous values.
- Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol.
- Document according to laboratory policy and maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area.
- Participate in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
- NYS Department of Health licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
- One year of experience in a clinical laboratory, with completion of an internship at a qualified institution acceptable.
- NYS License.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills required.
- ASCP Certified.
- Excellent computer knowledge/skill.
