Key Responsibilities:
  • Property Inspections: Conduct thorough property inspections to identify and address any code violations.
  • Compliance Assistance: Work with property owners, tenants, and occupants to gain compliance with local codes and ordinances.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement activities.
  • Court Testimony: Testify in court as necessary to support enforcement actions.
  • Community Engagement: Respond to citizen complaints and engage with the community to promote code compliance.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate enforcement activities with other departments and agencies.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus six months of additional education or training.
  • Experience: Over one year of experience in a municipal or government environment interacting with the public.
  • Licensure: Valid Arizona Driver License.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and a 50-pound lift test.
  • Certifications: Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual: Bilingual in speaking English and Spanish.
  • Testimony Experience: Experience testifying in court.
  • Certifications: Zoning Code Inspector Certification, Property Maintenance Inspector Certification, Code Enforcement Officer Certification.
  • Direct Law Enforcement Experience: Direct law or code enforcement, or inspection experience.
