Histology Technologist 2

The Histology Technologist 2 provides histological services to the Dermatology Department and the main Histology Laboratory. This position is responsible for ensuring that Mohs tissue specimens are optimally processed, oriented, and embedded appropriately during MOHS procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and process tissue samples for routine histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist.
- Perform histologic techniques including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining of human tissue for evaluation.
- Assist with quality control and assurance metrics, procedural audits, accreditation preparation, training, and troubleshooting mechanical and human errors.
- Maintain HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) registry status or obtain certification within two years of hire.
- HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification preferred.
- Baccalaureate degree with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, or associate degree with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.
- Mohs experience preferred.
This position is staffed Monday through Friday as needed to provide services for Mohs surgeries as scheduled.
