Job Summary

This position is responsible for the preparation, set-up, and maintenance of equipment in the Operating Room. The Surgical Equipment Technician will direct the care, preparation, and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the OR, as well as the set-up, opening, and breakdown of surgical cases in the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs the care, preparation, and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the OR.
  • Set-up, opening, and breakdown of surgical cases in the department.
  • Maintains full knowledge of surgical equipment and associated accessories used in the Operating Room.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects operation and configuration problems associated with surgical video equipment, endoscopic equipment, and surgical lighting systems.
  • Performs user maintenance on the majority of equipment used in the OR, including carts, wheels, hinges, hardware, filters, and checks the condition of hoses, cords, cuffs, fiber optic cables, and bulbs.
  • Ensures that the proper supplies and accessories relevant to each surgical procedure are available and maintained at all times.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Surgical Equipment Tech in a high volume, highly technical OR setting.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification.
