Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients, accurately record vital signs, review current medications, and document in medical records.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing department-specific metrics.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, or services to patients within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare examination or procedure rooms according to patient requirements.
  • Sanitize and reprocess equipment and supplies in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Administer vaccinations, injections, or oral medications as instructed by the healthcare provider.
  • Collect and prepare designated laboratory samples or specimens as directed by the healthcare provider.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP accredited program or national certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI.

Additionally:
  • Possess a Limited X-Ray license with experience in extremities and orthopedic procedures.
  • Proven ability to prepare patients for examinations by conducting preliminary physical assessments, including taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and summarizing patient history.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedic environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an outpatient medical or healthcare setting.
  • Skilled in blood/lab draws and venipuncture.
  • Experience in wound care and cast management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient orthopedics.
  • Familiarity with CS-Link/Epic systems.
  • Experience with Allscripts software.
  • Knowledge of Quest Diagnostic laboratory submission processes.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience with medical insurance, referral procedures, and benefit plans.
