About this Role

The Automotive Technician at Southern Electric Corporation is responsible for operating and driving various vehicles, including tractor trailers, to support assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience and hold a valid commercial driver's license.


Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in motor vehicles and construction equipment, including pickup trucks and heavier vehicles (1⁄2 ton to 10 ton GVWR), cranes, power shovels, and more.
• Conduct inspections and operate machinery to identify defects.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment using hand tools and hoists.
• Examine components for damage or excessive wear using gauges and test equipment.
• Test overhauled equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform welding on broken parts and structural components as needed.
• Fabricate parts or devices for the maintenance of power and telecommunication systems.
• Guide team members in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly tasks.
• Maintain specialized machinery, including conductor pullers and drilling equipment.
• Plan work procedures using technical manuals and personal expertise.
• Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to access mechanical units.
• Remove and inspect engines, transmissions, or differentials using appropriate tools.
• Overhaul or replace various engine components and systems, including carburetors and fuel injection systems.
• Perform electrical rewiring and maintenance of ignition systems and lights.
• Repair and adjust brakes, alignments, and other vehicle systems.
• Identify safety equipment and read operational manuals for specific machinery.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment.


Qualifications

• Must possess a valid commercial driver's license and maintain a current Medical Certification Card.
• May require relocation based on work demands.
• Willingness to participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures.
• Ability to lift and handle materials up to 60 pounds unassisted and work in various weather conditions.
