Sheet Metal Fabrication Specialist

At Hermeus, we're pushing the boundaries of air travel by developing hypersonic aircraft. As a Sheet Metal Fabrication Specialist, you'll play a critical role in bringing our vision to life. Your expertise in sheet metal fabrication will be essential in creating the complex components required for our aircraft.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products and components according to specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Measure, mark, and lay out work pieces using measuring tools and equipment to ensure accurate dimensions and fit.
  • Inspect and test finished products and components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and form sheet metal into desired shapes and sizes.
  • Perform routine inspections and repairs to the equipment and upgrades to the work area.
  • Complete work order operations, quality buyoffs, and issuing hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues or defects in sheet metal products or machinery and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including properly storing tools and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure projects are completed on time and meet requirements.


**Requirements:**
  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Experience transitioning parts/assemblies from first article to production.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, shaping, bending, and joining.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment, including hydraulic presses, shears, and roller machinery.
  • Ability to design and fabricate tooling for safe operations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide feedback on technical documents.
  • Troubleshoot issues on the floor and assist engineering with Design For Manufacturing.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Basic shop knowledge of tools and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and Microsoft Office.


**Preferred Qualifications:**
  • CAD/CAM and PLM experience.
  • Familiar with Liquid Penetrate Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing.
  • Ability to stand up a sheet metal manufacturing workspace.
  • Forklift/powered lift certification.
  • Familiar with MIG and TIG process welding.
