Job Title: Student Supervision Aide

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Student Supervision Aide to join our team at Benicia Unified School District. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong ability to work with students, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student behavior on school campuses, including elementary, middle, and high schools.
  • Enforce school rules and policies, issuing citations or detention slips as necessary.
  • Patrol designated areas, observing and controlling student behavior.
  • Mediate disagreements and maintain order in the cafeteria during lunch.
  • Issue detention slips and citations, refer students to administration for discipline as needed.
  • Escort injured students to the school office.
  • Identify and report unauthorized individuals on campus.
  • Watch for smoking, alcohol, drugs, and weapons.
  • Observe and report any damage to school property.
  • Use a hand-held radio for communication with administration.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent behavior, problems affecting students in the community, and appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to learn and apply District and school policies related to student behavior and activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing for prolonged periods and lifting objects.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to weather, work independently, encounter constant work interruptions, and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to read and write English at a simple level, respond to difficult or emergency situations, and learn quickly and follow verbal procedures.
