Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist is a key member of the medical imaging team at St. John's Riverside Hospital, responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound scans and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound scanning procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient results
  • Position and transfer patients to and from the ultrasound table, utilizing proper safety techniques
  • Prepare patients for examination, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns
  • Assist physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Dispose of biomedical waste, adhering to CDC and OSHA guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness of examining rooms and ultrasound machines
  • Differentiate between artifacts and normal/pathological processes, correlating clinical history with test results
  • Prepare studies for radiologist reading, utilizing PACS
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate patient transport
  • Maintain adequate room supplies, adhering to hospital health and safety codes
  • Attend required hospital in-service programs, staying up-to-date on industry developments

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school for Ultrasound Technology
  • ARDMS credential required for candidates with 2+ years of experience; breast registry preferred
  • Knowledge of GE Ultrasound unit preferred
  • Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment
  • Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Proficient in the use of MediTech, PACS
