Role Overview

The Licensed Class A Truck Operator is tasked with the responsibility of loading, transporting, and delivering products between our manufacturing facilities and distribution centers using a tractor-trailer.

Additionally, this role may involve local backhaul deliveries as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibit proficiency in operating various equipment safely and competently, including tractor-trailer trucks, straight body trucks, forklifts, floor jacks, and pallet jacks.
  • Conduct all necessary pre-trip safety inspections as mandated by DOT and/or company policies, while maintaining accurate logs and records.
  • Keep a daily log that includes trip reports and inventory of trailers.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of all company dock areas, which may include tasks such as debris removal, snow and ice clearance, and inspection of dock equipment.
  • Ensure the securement of products at the tail end of drop trailer loads before closing doors and affixing seals.
  • Verify product conditions and identification during unloading to ensure accuracy in delivery.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean work environment and report any defective equipment or job-related injuries.
  • Engage in additional job-related projects as directed by warehouse management, including inventory control and order management tasks.
  • Facilitate the shuttling of products or raw materials between facilities.
  • Act as a switcher when necessary.
  • Handle paperwork associated with dropped trailers.
  • Assist in breaking down loads during deliveries as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with Department of Transportation regulations is essential.

Education and Experience: A High School Diploma or GED is required. Experience with computerized systems is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is mandatory. Candidates must also obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical card and be licensed to operate material handling equipment (e.g., Forklift).

Physical Requirements

This position requires specific vision abilities, including close vision. Regular activities include talking, hearing, and using hands for various tasks. The role involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional stooping or kneeling.

Work Environment

The noise levels in the plant and warehouse are typically moderate, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions, including dust, temperature variations, and noise.
