At Rheinmetall, our protection division comprises four specialized groups that collaborate seamlessly within a shared workspace. Alongside the Finish area, we have the press team, the waterjet team, and the material cutter team. As our team expands, we are dedicated to developing cutting-edge technology that safeguards the crew of our combat vehicles against a variety of threats.

About the Role

The Adhesive Bonding Operator plays a crucial role in the assembly and finishing of composite armor panel modules, as well as in the preparation of materials and components prior to assembly.

As an Adhesive Bonding Operator, your daily responsibilities will include:
  • Assembling and finishing composite armor modules according to technical specifications;
  • Constructing jigs and assembly fixtures for component manufacturing;
  • Preparing metal components for adhesive bonding processes;
  • Assisting with the loading and operation of hydraulic curing presses;
  • Supporting the operation of a fabric cutting bench for the preparation of KevlarTM and fiberglass materials;
  • Operating a vacuum table equipped with heating functions;
  • Assisting Waterjet operators in processing components;
  • Handling materials using overhead cranes and pallet handling equipment;
  • Collaborating with Quality Assurance inspectors to document and record all processes;
  • Performing other duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Prior experience in adhesive bonding or working with composites;
  • Experience with vacuum sealing equipment or performing adhesive repairs under vacuum conditions;
  • A willingness to be trained on cutting equipment and cross-trained on other Armor Shop machinery;
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively within a production team;
  • The capability to follow instructions and work independently;
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
