About the Role

Clemson University is seeking a highly skilled Associate University Veterinarian to join its team. As a key member of the Office of Animal Resources, this individual will play a critical role in supporting the university's research mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care for multiple species, including laboratory and agricultural animals, directly or through oversight of animal care personnel.
  • Participate in providing shared emergency on-call services for the Office of Animal Resources.
  • Work with the University Veterinarian to review and facilitate investigator research and teaching IACUC protocols.
  • Ensure technical staff and research personnel are trained to perform IACUC-approved research.
  • Assist the University Veterinarian and Clemson staff in ensuring protocols, programs, and facilities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • DVM/VMD (or ECFVG equivalent) from an AVMA-accredited program.
  • At least 2 years of laboratory animal medicine experience.
  • DVM/South Carolina State License or eligible (attained within 3 months), Controlled drug license (SC DPH/DEA) or eligible (attained within 3 months), Driver's license, USDA Class II accredited.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a large, complex research animal care and use program.
  • ACLAM eligible or certified, ACLAM residency training, PhD or other advanced degrees in relevant scientific field.
  • Substantial experience in laboratory animal medicine.
