Job Summary:

The Supervisory Dietitian is responsible for managing the Nutrition and Dietetics program at the Gallup Indian Medical Center. The program includes planning, administering, coordinating, and evaluating a comprehensive nutrition and dietetic program for the center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, schedule, coordinate, and review functions of the branch, including budget, menu planning, purchasing specifications, requisitioning, food production and service, infection control, safety and sanitation, space utilization, equipment, and investigative studies.
  • Develop, implement, and revise employee standards to ensure consistency with position descriptions.
  • Implement and maintain personnel management procedures and quality assurance programs.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate, and revise clinical dietetics components, including nutritional management of chronic medical problems, food service functions, staff development, ambulatory care, and community nutrition programs.
  • Supervise development of menus, recipes, and purchasing specifications, and review and evaluate menus based on cost, availability, nutritional requirements, diet modification, and patient acceptance.

Requirements:

  • Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period.
  • ESEP appointees typically serve a two-year trial period.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
  • A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
  • Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required.
  • Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957, and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service healthcare facilities.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required.
  • The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
  • On-call hours or standby duty may be required.
