About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team at Maryland Nonprofits. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and strategic direction of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, and support informed decision-making by our leadership team.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the development and management of our annual operating budget, create financial forecasts, and monitor budget variances.
  3. Internal Controls: Implement and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard our financial assets, ensure compliance with donor restrictions and regulations.
  4. Grant Management: Oversee the financial aspects of grant funding, ensure adherence to donor restrictions, and develop systems for effective grant reporting.
  5. Investment Management: Partner with our Board of Directors to develop and implement an investment strategy, manage our investment portfolio, and stay up-to-date on current market trends.
  6. Risk Management: Proactively identify and assess financial risks, develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies, and stay informed about relevant financial regulations.
  7. Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership to our finance team, foster a collaborative and professional work environment, and oversee the professional development of our team members.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field; or CPA certification
  2. Proven expertise with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reports
  3. Knowledge of GAAP
  4. Experience with Federal Grants
  5. Experience in working with Uniform Guidance
  6. Experience in investment strategy
  7. Nonprofit finance management experience
  8. Proven leadership and business acumen skills
  9. Ability to direct and recommend cost-effective creative solutions
  10. Oversight by a Board of Directors
  11. Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff/team
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  13. Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
  14. Public accounting/audit experience preferred
