The **Electric Motor Test Engineer** plays a crucial role in assessing motor performance and efficiency using cutting-edge motor and vehicle chassis dynamometers equipped with advanced power analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate motor analysis and inverter calibration by designing and executing dynamometer tests for motors and vehicles.
  • Ensure test plans are validated, tests are conducted accurately, and the resulting data is reliable and reproducible.
  • Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation within the testing facility.
  • Collaborate with test requestors and technicians to prioritize and schedule testing activities.
  • Guide technical associates and verify that their dynamometer work and data adhere to Tula's high standards.
  • Enhance Tula's internal testing and calibration capabilities.
  • Engage external vendors and contractors as necessary.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and assist in the development of project plans.
  • Establish expertise in dynamometer testing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in experimental design.
  • Experience with at least three of the following tools: Matlab/Simulink, Labview/Veristand, CAS, INCA, Canalyzer, Canape, dSPACE/Control Desk, and power analysis equipment like HBK Genesis/Perception.
  • Solid understanding of electric motors and testing methodologies pertinent to road vehicles.
  • Familiarity with motor and vehicle testing equipment, including dynamometers and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to meticulously validate test plans, execute dynamometer work as per specifications, and ensure high-quality data output.
  • Knowledge of calibration structures for motor control modules in modern electric machines.
  • Competence in setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting sophisticated measurement instruments.
  • Exhibit system-level thinking and management capabilities.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple systems essential for valid testing.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and resolution techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and project management skills.
  • Participate in the construction and refurbishment of dynamometer cells.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the analysis and development of automotive motors and components.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as motor FEA and vehicle simulation.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of modern motor control.
