Job Summary:

The Lead Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the OR team, responsible for direct and indirect care of the surgical patient. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, this role serves as a specifically trained scrub technologist, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of the surgical field and maintenance of principles of asepsis
  • Leadership of morning huddles for the OR team, communicating policies, concerns, and updates regarding instruments/supplies and perioperative processes
  • Resource to staff, rounding on all operating rooms to assist with allocation of appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Communication with physicians' private surgical technologists for future cases and vendors/sales reps for upcoming scheduled cases
  • Maintenance and repair/replacement of Children's OR instruments, as well as assistance with preference card selection and training for new surgical technologists
  • Liaison between the OR and Central Sterile Processing, addressing issues and concerns regarding instruments and maintaining instrument tray lists and inventories
Requirements:
  • 5 years practicing as a surgical technologist
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward
  • Certified Central Sterile Tech required within 1 year of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CST (Certified Surgical Tech) and/or Certified Central Sterile Tech
