Job Summary

We are looking for a Strategic Decision Support Specialist to join our team at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a Strategic Decision Support Specialist, you will apply advanced data analytics, statistics, cognitive engineering, modeling, game theory, quantitative social science, and/or advanced mathematics as a trusted agent for the Government.

You will provide vital mission engineering expertise to nationally important precision strike capabilities for the Department of Defense, crafting analytical frameworks and software to drive decision making in alignment with mission goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply decision science principles through thought leadership and practical expertise to the selection, design, development, and evaluation of complex decision support systems.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to empower technical teams and bridge domains.
  • Deliver formal presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors and effectively communicate critical decision points and supporting analysis for those decisions.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Decision Science, Operations Research, Quantitative Social Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or another related technical discipline.
  • Evidence of project work involving analysis of decision-making processes to enhance decision-making opportunities, minimize risks, drive innovation, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Refined technical skills in verbal and written communication, as well as strong critical thinking skills to analyze and resolve complex problems.
