Willdan is seeking a highly skilled Building Official to join our team in Orlando, Florida. As a Building Official, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by enforcing building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and issue building permits to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct inspections of new construction, additions, and alterations to residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Examine plans and specifications to determine compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Confer with architects, engineers, contractors, and builders to provide information and assistance on building codes and regulations.
  • Observe conditions and issue notices for corrections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of inspections and plan checks.
  • Testify at appeal hearings regarding buildings alleged to be not in compliance with codes.
  • Provide training for inspection, plan check, and administrative personnel.
  • Manage building and safety plan review, inspection, and administrative personnel.
Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ICC Building Official and Florida Licensed Building Code Administrator certification.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  • Possession of State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Licensed Building Code Administrator certificate at time of hire.
  • Knowledge of building-related codes and ordinances enforced by a jurisdiction, including the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the International Code Council (ICC).
