HHDC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Professional to join our team. As a Janitor (Union), you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our properties, ensuring a positive experience for our residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain all public areas, vacant units, and common spaces, including hallways, parking areas, sidewalks, and alleyways.
- Perform exterior maintenance tasks, such as lawn care, window washing, snow removal, and trash pickup.
- Assist with emergency responses and basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Ensure the proper use of equipment, safety procedures, and safety equipment in accordance with OSHA, industry, and HHDC standards.
- Transport equipment and supplies to various properties as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Full-time janitorial experience.
- Certificate of Training Program completion preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Good safety habits and ability to work safely with cleaning supplies.
- Highly organized and self-motivated.
- Ability to work with lawn machinery and power tools.
- Plumbing and mechanical aptitude.
- Sensitivity to diverse cultures and excellent customer service skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish may be required.
The Maintenance Professional will work in a residential apartment setting, interacting with tenants and staff. The position requires the ability to work outdoors and indoors in various weather conditions and environments.
Physical DemandsThe Maintenance Professional must be able to stand, walk, use hands and reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly. The position requires the use of hand and power tools, chemicals, and paints.
Union RepresentationThis position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement between HHDC and the SEIU Local 1 union.
