Senior Videographer

Job Summary

The Senior Videographer at George Mason University is responsible for creating high-quality video content that supports the university's strategic brand initiatives. This role involves conceptualizing and actualizing creative video concepts from pre-production to delivery, capturing high-quality video in various settings, and coordinating crew, talent, and location details simultaneously on multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute video productions, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, and shot listing
Collaborate with the video team to determine the technical approach for each project
Work with writers, editors, and creatives to ensure maximum advantage is taken of each opportunity
Assign roles to crew members as needed, including lighting, audio, and second camera
Manage the setup and teardown of equipment and lighting
Maintain camera equipment and ensure its proper care

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in multimedia or film studies, film production, or digital imaging
Advanced-level user of multimedia authoring software, such as Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro
Demonstrated advanced video/audio editing and multimedia composition skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and life experiences
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and continue working successfully

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to apply conceptual and critical thinking skills to pull together storyboards, visually compose and edit in the field to ensure getting the content needed in the style expected
Mid- to advanced-level abilities with composition and editing software
