Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

This position involves performing diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with Radiologist protocols. The primary responsibility is to conduct mammograms while also supporting general x-ray services.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mammography and general imaging, including specialty areas such as Orthopedics.
- Position imaging equipment and adjust techniques as necessary to accommodate patient body habitus.
- Record, process, and maintain patient data within the electronic medical record and PACS system.
- Complete all image processing procedures and QC testing, adhering to Radiologist protocols to ensure diagnostic-quality images.
- Utilize radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Communicate with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm understanding, and address any questions or concerns.
- Perform phlebotomy and basic lab testing as ordered by providers.
- Potential to rotate on mobile mammography units.
- Graduation from an accredited or approved program in Radiological Technology.
- 1-3 years of current clinical experience in diagnostic radiology, preferably mammography. Clinical student experience may be considered in lieu of one year of current clinical experience.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and positioning to effectively image areas of interest.
- Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology, including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Mammography Certification or eligibility based on actively training towards this certification within 1 year.
- Radiographer License issued by the state of WI.
- CPR/BLS Certification - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from an approved program.
