Job Overview

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for conducting routine and preventive maintenance as well as performing basic repairs on designated machinery and facilities. This role involves a variety of troubleshooting activities and requires reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor to confirm work tasks and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

2. Interpreting assembly drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts.

3. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic circuits.

4. Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing control devices.

5. Managing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing hydraulic systems, circuits, and components.

6. Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing pneumatic systems.

7. Ability to reference parts from equipment drawings, schematics, and parts lists, along with completing parts requisitions for procurement.

8. Proficiency in utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and adhering to work order protocols.

9. Analyzing data to enhance productivity.

10. Complying with all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

11. Collaborating with team members and working effectively in a team-oriented environment.

12. Contributing to achieving or surpassing production waste and quality objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

2. Proficient in using computers, CMMS, and related software for record-keeping and machine maintenance.

3. Capable of recognizing and understanding numerical data and accurately entering this information into an online database.

4. Strong mathematical skills are essential.

5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

6. Capacity to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces.

7. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

8. Ability to climb heights of up to 60 feet.

9. Competence in reading mechanical and electrical schematics.

10. Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems ranging from low voltage (12 v DC) to high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase).

11. Ability to make priority decisions and exercise independent judgment based on situational assessments.

12. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma or equivalent, or 2 years of relevant experience.

2. General understanding of OSHA and HAZMAT regulations.

3. Basic knowledge of algebra and geometry for calculating proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.

4. Proficient in operating hand and power tools, industrial machines, and safety equipment.

5. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

6. Ability to concentrate and work effectively in a noisy environment.

7. Requires collaboration with various job groups and involves working around traffic, heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy machinery.

8. Manual dexterity is essential.

Work Environment

1. Ability to perform in a non-climate-controlled environment.

2. Exposure to dusty and noisy conditions.

3. May require working in adverse weather conditions.
