Position Overview:

The Lumber Yard Operations Supervisor will oversee all aspects of yard management, including the receipt, production, and distribution of building materials. This role is essential in safeguarding the company's assets, including facilities, equipment, and inventory. Compliance with all internal policies and relevant federal and state regulations is mandatory, including adherence to OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA standards. The Supervisor will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with team members, management, and clients.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Work closely with the sales team to address order-related issues.
  • Plan and schedule production activities.
  • Ensure accurate delivery of materials to various job sites.
  • Monitor inventory levels, usage, costs, and trends to maintain optimal stock.
  • Coordinate with the Inventory Manager for stock replenishment.
  • Engage with the Human Resources Department on employee relations matters.
  • Act as the Safety Leader for the yard, facilitating compliance training as necessary.
  • Ensure that all equipment and work environments adhere to safety protocols.
  • Embrace additional responsibilities and challenges as they arise.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Positive Attitude and Team-Oriented: A collaborative spirit is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and resolve issues proactively.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks amidst varying demands.
  • Familiarity with materials and processes in the construction industry.
  • Forklift Certification is mandatory.
