As a key leader in the Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) organization at Vanderbilt University, you will oversee the management of radiation and laser safety programs. This critical role requires expertise in radiation and laser safety concepts, standards of performance, best practices, granting requirements, licensing, and regulations.
You will act as the university's subject matter expert in radiation and laser safety and as the university's Radiation Safety Officer on VU's Broadscope License. This position involves acting as lead in compliance-related regulatory inspections, collaborating with various teams to develop vision, mission, budget, policies, procedures, and key performance indicators for EHSS.
You will establish relationships with other departments, such as VUMC OCRS, to ensure smooth transitions and effective communication. The successful candidate will lead the implementation and adoption of EHS Assist software systems related to their area of EHSS.
In this role, you will also be responsible for ensuring regulatory and audit findings are timely and effectively addressed, developing opportunities for improvement in current services, faculty support processes, training, and information systems.
