Occupational Therapist PRN Acute Care Specialist

Job SummaryThe Occupational Therapist PRN Acute Care will adhere to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. This individual will communicate effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.
Responsibilities- Document evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
- Complete daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance, and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
- Complete discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up, and patient and/or family education.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
- Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
- Demonstrate essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols. Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines - adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- M.S. in Occupational Therapy (bachelor's degree accepted)
- BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
- VA License required
