Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Asst Nurse Manager to join our team in the Trauma Operating Room. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Surgical Support and equipment technicians, maintaining equipment, and providing support to the managers of the Trauma Operating Room and General Operating Room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and supervise the assigned Surgical Support Technicians and Equipment Technicians, including performance appraisals, mentoring, and coaching.
- Develop and implement continuing education initiatives and onboarding programs for staff.
- Provide overall supervision, training, and evaluation in accordance with system and departmental policies and procedures.
- Interview and recommend hiring of staff, conduct annual performance evaluations, and implement disciplinary measures as needed.
- Promote professional development of staff and ensure policies and procedures are understood and followed.
- Act as a liaison with nursing, quality management, and other related services or committees.
- Participate in and lead discussions on purchasing needs, quality results, and patient feedback to improve quality of care and service.
- Take a proactive approach to addressing potential problems with patient management and equipment issues.
- Collaborate with leadership on long- and short-term planning and facilitate change within the department/unit to meet organizational goals.
- Create, implement, and lead performance improvement projects.
Patient Safety:
Ensure patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety initiatives.
- Take action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
- Report adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
- Identify possible risks in processes, procedures, devices, and communicate the same to those in charge.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
1. Current License as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland.
2. Operating room experience of at least 2 years.
3. Bachelor's degree required.
4. CNOR and prior leadership experience preferred.
5. Basic Life support required.
