Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Labor Specialist to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a labor and delivery setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote healthy behaviors and outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and identify potential complications to ensure timely interventions.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based care plans to improve patient outcomes and reduce readmissions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure clear understanding of patient needs and care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited academic nursing program required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited academic nursing program preferred.
  • 1-2 years RN experience required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state or jurisdiction of the facility seeking employment, or Multistate Compact state or license eligible.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) is required for Perinatal nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing).
  • Basic math skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
