This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the Public Works Engineering Division within the City of Ridgecrest. We are seeking a full-time entry-level to mid-level Civil Engineer. The Engineering Division is integral to the planning, budgeting, design, and execution of various Public Works initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with local agencies and departments to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops plans, specifications, and cost assessments for a range of engineering projects.
  • Participates in field investigations and assessments for diverse projects.
  • Gathers data and performs analyses related to engineering structures and facilities.
  • Evaluates plans from external entities to confirm adherence to established standards.
  • Contributes to traffic analysis, floodplain assessments, and other engineering evaluations.
  • Supports the management of construction and operational contracts.
  • Prepares environmental documentation and permit applications as required.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

A solid grasp of engineering principles is crucial for this position. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project is mandatory. Strong communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to excel in a dynamic environment are essential traits. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or land surveying from an ABET-accredited institution.
