Role Description

The Project Engineer is accountable for overseeing engineering activities on smaller projects or segments of larger Pipeline or Pipeline Facilities initiatives. This role entails coordinating various engineering, construction, procurement, scheduling, and commissioning elements of a project, ensuring technical excellence across all engineering disciplines. Typically, candidates at this level have advanced from a General Engineering Level position or transitioned from a comparable role. A professional registration or license is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Gulf procedures and work instructions assigned to the Project Management team.
  • Lead engineering and design efforts for the designated segment of the project.
  • Delegate specific scopes of work to each discipline involved in the project team and disseminate design information as necessary.
  • Engage in weekly project team meetings and maintain an action item/deliverable register for ongoing review and updates.
  • Address issues arising at the interface between segments or among disciplines within the project team.
  • Evaluate deliverable products to ensure alignment with the design basis.
  • Support engineering design when specialized engineering expertise is required.
  • Oversee project team activities to adhere to the established schedule.
  • Document client-initiated orders and assess the impact of these change orders on the project segment.
  • Monitor work scope progress and report on schedule and budget forecasts.

Qualifications

  • A BS or MS degree in Engineering is typically required, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in pipeline or pipeline facilities engineering, with general engineering experience ranging from 10 to 15 years.
  • Ability to develop project estimates effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with computer systems in an engineering context.
  • Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Education

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required; a graduate engineering degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer status is preferred.
