Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on new patient consultations, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Measure and record vital signs, providing critical information for patient care and treatment planning.
- Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide patient education on office policies, medications, management of side effects, treatments, and special diets, promoting patient empowerment and autonomy.
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- Change dressings, apply bandages, and perform wound care procedures as directed, maintaining a high level of patient comfort and dignity.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and instruments, adhering to infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Occasionally place Foley catheters for radiotherapy planning, demonstrating expertise and attention to detail.
- Dispose of biohazard waste according to clinic Policy and Procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation, maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Support the emotional well-being of patients, providing empathy and compassion in times of need.
- Provide information on resources for patients and family members, promoting patient-centered care and support.
- Participate in a small office environment, taking on additional tasks and duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Provide nursing direction and support on clinical topics, contributing to the development of nursing staff and promoting professional growth.
- Support the development of education programs, facilitating nursing staff professional development and promoting a culture of learning.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders to monitor quality outcomes, ensuring high standards of patient care and satisfaction.
- Graduate of an accredited degree nursing school.
- Registered Nurse License.
- Oncology Nursing Society, Radiation Oncology Certificate preferred.
- This position is in a fast-paced and multi-task medical office environment, occasionally interacting with ill and/or distressed patients and their families.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, sit/stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive hand/wrist motions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and manage stressful situations, working in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels.
- Requires mastery of complex language, comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills typically found in mid to high-level work.
