Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and document radioisotopes from receipt to disposal, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Administer radio-pharmaceuticals daily, performing various nuclear imaging procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to discuss procedure appropriateness and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Perform equipment quality control, including daily floods, weekly bar phantom, and daily calibrations, maintaining pertinent logs as per policy.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, providing necessary instructions, teaching, and emotional support, and obtaining procedural consent.
  • Review physician orders for proper indicators and ensure all necessary information is available for radiologists.
  • Follow aseptic technique and safe handling of radioisotopes while preparing patient dosages.
  • Perform venipuncture per policy and conduct all imaging procedures on gamma cameras in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Develop, inspect, and label images for radiologist review, maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff regarding radiation safety.
  • Address patient comfort and complaints, discussing cases with radiologists and referring physicians.
Requirements
  • Graduate of Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Certification or eligibility in Nuclear Medicine Technology with 1 year of experience.
  • Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
  • Proficient in the use of Meditech (RIS)/Teleradiology system.
