Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our Emergency Department team at Lifespan. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses to set priorities and organize work
  • Communicate all pertinent observations to the responsible Registered Nurse
  • Administer direct physical care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Report abnormal findings to the RN
  • Perform selected procedures and treatments according to standards and protocols
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients
  • Collect and record test results and specimen data
  • Set up cardiac monitoring devices and assist with cardiac monitoring runs
  • Utilize side rails, restraints, and assistive devices as needed
  • Record selected treatments and procedures
  • Maintain patient and family confidentiality
  • Support and reinforce teaching done by the Registered Nurse
  • Perform other duties within scope of care as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Entry-level credentialing of secretarial and nursing assistant skills
  • Current Rhode Island registration as a Nursing Assistant
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)

Working Environment and Physical Conditions:

Exposed to patient care environment with frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
