Position Overview:
The MDS Coordinator RN is responsible for the development, completion, and submission of resident assessments (MDS - Minimum Data Set) in line with the latest Federal and State regulations. This position demands a thorough understanding of MDS procedures, utilization reviews, and quality enhancement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an Accredited Licensed Nursing Program (RN)
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in an MDS Coordinator RN role
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes the MDS schedule and collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) for timely completion
- Ensures MDS completion adheres to the RAI manual, guaranteeing accuracy and punctual submission
- Submits finalized MDS to CMS and reviews validation reports
- Examines hospital records to identify suitable MDS ARD and anticipated HIPPS codes
- Facilitates PPS meetings to ensure adequate skilled coverage for residents
- Oversees the LVN MDS Nurse
- Analyzes CMS reports for quality improvement initiatives
- Engages in Medicare and MDS educational webinars provided by the organization
- Undertakes other essential duties as necessary
