Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

This position as an Occupational Therapist is to screen, evaluate, provide treatment, supervise the administration of occupational therapy treatment, and participate in discharge planning of residents where services are being provided.

The Occupational Therapist will administer occupational therapy screening, evaluation, and treatment to residents according to their scope of practice where therapy services are being provided. This includes determining and recommending occupational therapy services in accordance with resident care plans, obtaining informed consent from residents and/or their representatives, and performing initial and ongoing occupational therapy evaluations on new admissions, referred residents, and re-evaluations as indicated.

The Occupational Therapist will also plan and implement occupational therapy treatment plans, complete accurate and appropriate daily billing in Optima HCS for residents on their caseload, document resident progress in daily treatment encounter notes, weekly progress reports, recertification documentation, and discharge summaries in Optima HCS for each resident in which they provide therapy services, and provide ongoing treatment to residents using the most current techniques following appropriate physician orders, AOTA guidelines, and the state practice act's code of conduct/standards.

The Occupational Therapist will also supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) based upon the State Practice Act, maintain licensure and company requirements, adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures, and complete other work duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) based upon the State Practice Act.
Maintain licensure and company requirements.
Adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures.
Complete other work duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Requires a graduate degree from an AOTA accredited Occupational Therapy Program or equivalent for foreign trained therapists.
Current Texas State License as an Occupational Therapist.
Current Driver's License.
Current CPR certification.
Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance to travel between facilities when required.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Working Conditions:

The Occupational Therapist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. They will be required to stand, walk, and move around the facility to provide therapy services. They will also be required to use physical agent modalities and other equipment as necessary. The Occupational Therapist will be expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow established procedures for use of physical agent modalities.
