Caltrans Electrician

Under the supervision of a Caltrans Electrical Supervisor or direction of a Caltrans Electrician II, the responsibilities of the Caltrans Electrician I will include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, installations, reinstalls, rebuilds, and field inspections on all Caltrans Highway Electrical Inventory. The incumbent will also act as liaison with construction, permits, local agencies, and utility companies, and work independently and/or with others.

The employee will be based in a District 12 field office in a climate-controlled environment under artificial lights, but most duties and time will be spent outdoors engaged in the duties mentioned above. Weather conditions vary from a cold, windy and wet winter climate to a very hot and dry summer climate. The incumbent may be exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, hot materials, chemicals, loud noises, inclement weather, steep, uneven/or unstable terrain, fast moving traffic, and/or extreme temperatures.

• The position requires a valid California Driver's License (CDL). The incumbent must answer the questions addressing their CDL on their application and provide their CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
• The position requires a Drug Screening to be passed prior to being hired.
