Overview of Responsibilities: The Senior Vice President of Operations is accountable for the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the organization, focusing on cost reduction and enhancing operational efficiencies to meet or surpass profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise critical functions encompassing all operational aspects of the utility division.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with the management team to design, implement, and assess strategic initiatives aimed at boosting efficiencies.
- Regularly assess the evolving business landscape and adjust processes as needed to address deficiencies and minimize waste.
- Identify, cultivate, and standardize best practices to ensure sustained improvements that deliver maximum value at the lowest cost.
- Align the division's strategic direction and capabilities with market demands to secure ongoing growth and profitability.
- Provide vision and strategic direction to achieve optimal business performance.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), communicate findings across the organization, and devise solutions for enhancement.
- Deliver monthly performance reports as required.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure precision, teamwork, and timely delivery of products to clients.
- Lead assigned personnel with positive, credible, and dynamic leadership. Proactively evaluate skills, offer training, and foster development to build high-performing teams.
- Work together to ensure project milestones are met, facilitating timely project completions, including invoicing and reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Main Focus Areas:
- Full accountability for P&L through direct reports and matrix responsibilities across Operations, Quality, Human Resources, and Environmental Health & Safety.
- Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement best practices organization-wide.
- Set performance metrics, strive to meet or exceed them, and pursue continuous excellence.
- Optimize the leadership team to drive business outcomes.
- Recruit top talent, mentor, train, and inspire staff to achieve peak performance.
- Develop, refine, and monitor KPIs, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of executives and operational management to ensure alignment with goals and objectives.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in the utility transmission sector preferred.
- Experience managing multiple sites is essential.
- 5-7 years of P&L management experience with a robust operational and technical background.
- Ability to act as a change agent, swiftly organizing and streamlining operations while maintaining a focus on the big picture.
- Strong analytical capabilities with a proven track record of evaluating diverse data, formulating reasoned alternatives, and effectively communicating decisions and solutions.
- History of building trust and credibility across all employee levels, fostering strong working relationships.
- Maintains confidentiality and ensures appropriate levels of discretion.
- Exhibits high energy and enthusiasm, with a focus on achieving agreed-upon recommendations and results.
