Your Role with Us

As a Vascular Sonographer or Vascular Technologist, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and assessing vascular conditions using specialized imaging techniques. You will interact with a diverse patient population and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Core Functions:
  • Provides direct and indirect care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Services Department and other areas in the hospital.
  • Performs carotid, arterial, and venous vascular ultrasound procedures, including abdominal and transcranial Doppler procedures.
  • Conducts testing under the indirect supervision of a vascular physician and positions patients to maximize effectiveness of image and minimize patient discomfort.
  • Adjusts equipment controls and modifies images during the exam to demonstrate anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and/or pathology accurately.
  • Operates equipment in m-mode, 2D, and spectral Doppler and color Doppler techniques.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates patient care and/or services with team members.
  • Participates in the assessment and development of department and hospital-related projects.

Background/Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of noninvasive cardiovascular technology/ultrasound or three years of recent experience and at least 800 vascular procedures performed.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Recent experience as a Vascular Sonographer in a hospital-based, cardiovascular non-invasive services department is preferred.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • RVT or RVS certification or eligibility for RVT or RVS certification and completion within six months of hire is required.
  • Oregon Practice of Sonography license (OBMI) is required.
