Position Summary:
As a High School Science Educator at Uncommon Schools, you will collaborate with colleagues to equip students with essential skills and knowledge in the field of science, fostering their development as independent learners. Our approach emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging student discourse and active participation in scientific practices. You will utilize diverse instructional methods to ignite a passion for scientific inquiry and critical thinking among students, preparing them for any STEM-related path they choose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction:
    Deliver a comprehensive curriculum encompassing Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences, aimed at preparing students for Advanced Placement (AP) and college-level studies.
  • Enhance students' skills in questioning, modeling, explanation construction, data analysis, and conducting interactive laboratory experiments.
  • Create a supportive environment that encourages students to express their ideas and engage in scientific discussions.
  • Facilitate student-led discussions where evidence is used to formulate claims and evaluate arguments.
  • Guide students through inquiry-based explorations of scientific topics and oversee lab and project-based activities.
  • Collaborate with the Science department to set academic and engagement objectives for students.

Data Analysis:
Engage in weekly meetings with leadership to assess and respond to trends in student performance and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.

School Culture:
Foster positive relationships with students to ensure they feel valued and understood. Work alongside families to provide necessary resources for student success. Participate in professional development and coaching sessions, and contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote community and student achievement.

Compensation and Benefits:
