ICU Nurse

We are a 14-bed Medical ICU that provides high-quality care to patients who are hemodynamically unstable and require continuous medication infusions, close monitoring, and intensive nursing care. Our unit is largely focused on cardiac care, managing balloon pumps, Impella's, and pulmonary artery catheters. Our nurses are trained to perform CRRT and have extensive experience in proning patients with ARDS. We maintain a patient ratio of 2:1 for all ICU patients, with 1:1 care for critically unstable patients. We also care for step-down patients and occasionally group them at 3:1. Our charge nurses and shift leads respond to rapid response calls throughout the hospital and are responsible for codes.

About Trenton HospitalTrenton Hospital is a Magnet-designated facility that provides comprehensive medical and surgical care. Scope of WorkThe RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family.

QualificationsTo be eligible for this position, you must have an Associate's degree in Nursing and be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. You must also have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing within 5 years of hire. Graduates from non-accredited schools of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. You must also have AHA or ARC Basic Life Support certification within 90 days and AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification within 6 months. Specialty certification is highly recommended within 2 years.
