Job Title: Kitchen Steward
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for maintaining the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition. The successful candidate will be responsible for dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing equipment and patient trays, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleans and sanitizes dishes, equipment, and patient trays according to hospital department guidelines.
- Gathers patient trays from hospital floors and transports them to the dishwashing area.
- Cleans and disinfects assigned areas, including dining areas, using department cleaning procedures.
- Operates and maintains assigned equipment, such as commercial dishwashers, according to established procedures.
- Reports problems with equipment and facility in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Demonstrates communication skills, including reading color-coded labels and chemicals, and following written and verbal directions.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional housekeeping experience.
- Food Handler's Permit.
Physical Requirements:
- Operate housekeeping equipment, requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- See and read labels, monitors, and documents.
- Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting supplies and equipment.
- Climb, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs to clean equipment and reach and retrieve supplies.
- Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
