About the Job

This position is part of the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) program and will be filled as Psychologist, Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, or Senior Social Worker. The incumbent functions as part of multidisciplinary primary care teams, delivering brief, consultation-based services to Veterans within that setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform psychological evaluations for individuals with mental health and medical disorders for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations.
  • Provide a range of psychological therapeutic interventions, including group and individual formats, with individuals with mental health and medical disorders utilizing empirically supported modalities when indicated.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: May be authorized for a highly qualified candidate.
  • EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education: Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed.
  • Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience
  • Licensed within discipline.
  • Experience providing individual and group psychotherapy for a wide array of diagnoses.
  • Experience as a therapist in the VA.
  • Experience in PCMHI and/or primary care setting.
Physical Requirements
  • The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work.
  • Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site.
  • Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
